Kelowna is the Hub of the Central Okanagan. Being the largest city in the Valley there is approximately 100,000 people in the city limits and another 120,000 in the regional district. Kelowna is known for its sunshine, tourism, golf courses, wineries, beaches & lakes. Located 175 km from the US border and 400 km from the city of Vancouver, and having an International airport, and only 602 km from Calgary, access to this wonderful city is easy. Hwy 97 is a main artery to the north and south, and Hwy 33 provides access to the east. The Okanagan connector has been a great boast to the economy and gives access to the Coquihalla hwy making Vancouver only a 3.5 hour drive.
The long hot summers average a temperature of 27.4 c (80 F) with winters having an average daytime temperature of 1 c (34 F). Sunshine is abundant with a year round average of 2000 hours. This makes ideal conditions for both winter and summer sports. Kelowna is attracted by hikers, bikers, swimmers, runners, snow skiing, water skiing and all water sports, marathons, tennis players, golfers, sport fishing and camping. The world known Big White and Silver Star ski hills are only a short drive from the city, and offers some of the best powder skiing in North America.
